Morocco Mountains and Forrest
October 6th-14th
We are putting a trip together to go and see the Cedar Forests and the High Atlas mountains. This will be a camping trip for nine days leaving from Algerciras going to Ceuta and then passing through the border into Morocco. We will then head for Chefchaouen for a good night’s sleep in the camp site.
We will then make our way to the Cedar Forest, and after exploring them we will camp the night in the forest where there are Barbary apes, owls, and all sorts of wild life.

Next stop is the High Atlas mountains, where we will head for Lake Tislet which is at 7414ft and gets very clear and cold, we can camp or if the weather is not so good, there is an Auberg we can use. Next morning we will do some exploring to another lake...

We will then make our way to the two gorges the Dades and the Todra spending some time just taking in the surroundings of these beautiful places.

That takes us to half way through the week we will then turn back and head across the Atlas again heading for Beni Mellal taking in some un-surfaced roads making for some interesting driving and camping wherever we end up.

We will then start heading north maybe taking in Fes or Meknes depending on time.

This route is not hard and fast we will modify it if we have to due to weather etc.
Any questions please call or email me.
Cost will be £450 a car.
Or if you just want to come and haven’t got a 4x4, you can sit in with somebody, we can find you a place, £350 we can find you a tent and kip mat or air bed we will look after you.

Morocco 23rd April - 1st May
A fter a very successful trip to Morocco, we are going back on the 23rd of April until 1st May. We are heading straight down to Erg chebbi for a few days in the desert. It will be an all camping week, but if you require an auberg or hotel this might be possible. If you would like to go please get in touch as soon as possible. info@tugs4x4.com
This will be a guided trip with support vehicle and it is a camping trip so expect some wild camping.
Cost for 9 days is £495 per car and includes camping fees whilst in Morocco does not include the camping fees in Spain.
Return ferry fare, fuel and food are NOT included but we will be on hand to show you where to get the best deals and anything else you may need. There will always be somebody there for you.
We meet in or near Gibraltar so you can fill up with cheap fuel and do that last minute shopping before we catch the ferry from Algeciras to Ceuta then pass over the border to Morocco.

We have reduced the price of our trips so for nine days guided and support it is now £495 this includes all camping fees in Morocco.
We also have 2-4 seats available in the convoy so if you haven’t got a 4x4 but you would like to come with us on an adventure, please get in touch for availability.
We will provide a tent, air mattress, and sleeping bag or you can bring your own. We have cooking facilities so you won't go hungry and we will make sure you get fed... riding shot gun costs £395 for the trip.

Things for you to think about:
-
Depending on time and location of ferry crossing work on about £250 return crossing open.
-
Fuel is about 70p a litre for diesel so that’s about £3.15p a gallon so you have to work out how many miles to the gallon your vehicle is doing and budget accordingly
-
Make sure your paperwork is all up to date.
-
You do need a green card for Morocco - check with your insurance and get them to issue one.
-
Make sure you have a current MOT
-
Bring your driving licence both parts.
-
Make sure you have six months left on your passport and don’t forget it.
-
Bring your E111 or equivalent health insurance documents.
-
Get good travel insurance
Then when you have all your documents, make copies (as many as you want). They always come in handy. Get some laminated so if they get wet you don’t lose them.
Ok, a lot of travellers pack as much as they can get in their 4x4, s and then think "Wow! That’s heavy..." and it handles like a pig. Fuel economy drops, it gets hot and you start having problems - and when you do get home you find you didn't use half the stuff you took! So I always say "Take what you need; not what you want". Travel light - your 4x4 will love you for it.
Things you do need:
-
A well serviced 4x4 if you think anything on your 4x4 isn’t up to the job get it replaced before you go and bring the old one as a spare you knows it works.
-
A good roof tent or floor tent personally I like to be on the roof it’s a lot more comfortable and there’s nothing like a good nights sleep.
-
A good all seasons sleeping bag it does get very cold at night in the dessert and in the mountains.
-
Clothing, plenty of layers it gets hot, it gets cold lots of thin layers that you can pull on or off as required, jeans are not a good choice, very good quick drying materials are a must something that zips off at the knees is good as well check out your local millets or blacks out door store before you come away they will have plenty of ideas.
-
A good tool kit.
-
A good recovery rope or strap a kinetic rope is worth it weight in gold for recoveries in sand and make sure you have a good recovery point front and rear.
-
Two jerry cans of fuel that will give you about 40 litres approx 150-200 miles extra range.
-
Some spares specific to your car air and oil filters, oil, fluids atf, brake fluid, drive belts, brake pads and a spare alternator if you have one.
-
A good serviceable spare wheel check before you go don’t get a puncture then find its soft or flat when you go to change it you can also take another spare giving you two spares if you have the room a spare inner tube will also come in handy if your in trouble but that’s more for people who are travelling alone.
-
Food well that depends if you have a fridge if you haven’t don’t buy perishables they wont last but tinned or dehydrated packs are always good and remember there is always fresh fruit and veg you can buy at the local stalls and its cheap also look at drinking 4-6 litres of water a day you can buy bottled water very cheap 5ltrs are under a euro each buy them and pack behind your seat its then easily available when you want it and keeps the weight low in your vehicle.
-
A brew kit.
-
Cooker.
-
Money is always good get your dirrums from the cash point at any bank in morocco we will stop to do this it’s perfectly safe.
And remember you won’t be going alone so there will be people to help you.
So please if you have any questions that I haven’t answered, simply drop me an e mail or phone and I will get back to you. You can find the number on our Contact Us page.
On our next trip we will be heading for the mountains. Don’t miss that trip!
